Happy Birthday Mel

Just a small Gin and Tonic to round off Mel's Birthday

Today was Mel’s Birthday, and I’m just enough of a gentleman to know its not polite to mention a ladies age. We have had a very pleasant and laid back day, a stroll along the beach into Marbella this morning, a distance of about 5 miles. We celebrated arrival with a couple of glasses of wine and tapas whilst people… Read more »

A Scenic Drive From Humilladero to Marbella via Ronda

A Sweeping Curve of the Carreterra de Ronda on the Approach to Marbella

On the move again in search of some sun and sea (steady!). The drive from Humilladero to Ronda was particularly picturesque, lusher than I was expecting and also somewhat reminiscent of Scotland (on a particularly fine day). A mixture of rolling hills, rocky out crops and craggy mountains. Nice for a change to see some wind turbines actually putting in… Read more »

Twitching at Las Lagunas de Campillos, Andalusia

We weren’t expecting the Spanish Inquisition – sorry, I meant to say cold. For some reason, despite having left the mountains, last night was a rather cold one. The neighbours said they measured -3 degrees, but we had the electric heater running all night and by morning it was feeling pretty darn cold. I don’t think we left a door… Read more »

Short on Time so Skiing is Curtailed

Well, not quite what we had planned, but having finally got around to some skiing we realise that we are running short on time before Mel’s return to the UK, and that sadly therefore we must settle for just the one day on the slopes. Seems daft I know, but there you go. Mel didn’t want to ski on a… Read more »

The Trouble with Skiing Isn’t the Skiing

Actually, there is no problem with skiing. It’s getting to the skiing that can be problematic. Not that the weather was against us. Nope. That was fine, even with a little cloud cover. Our problem was the things associated with skiing, like insurance, and finding anything useful in a maze of apartments and ski hire shops. The morning started with… Read more »

Village Life in Güéjar Sierra, Sierra Nevada

The Town of Güéjar Sierra, Sierra Nevada, Spain

This morning we thought it prudent to try and top up the LPG tanks as we are now down to 50%. There is supposed to be, according to searches, an LPG station in Granada, then the next nearest if either Cordoba, Malaga or Murcia, at least 80 miles away. We found the advertised station fairly easily, but it was closed…. Read more »

What’s Mel Been Working On?

2 Comments on What’s Mel Been Working On?

Mel has been doing quite a bit of sculpture work whilst we’ve been travelling, and here is an image of one piece, taken on the beach on the Costa Tropical. There are a number of other pieces but I don’t have the images to hand at the moment. I will endeavour to post some more shortly. As Mel is returning… Read more »

The City of Granada

On a bright but crisp Saturday we decided that a walk from La Zubia would do us good. It did, but unfortunately there is only a relatively busy road with no proper footpath between the two, but this is what we did. It was only a couple of miles so didn’t take too long. Then a further couple of miles… Read more »
