SWCP – Durlston Head to Worth Matravers

A cracking sunny day on the coast path heading east from Swanage. A lovely bit of coastline, cliff top above the sea with old quarries dotting the way, most notably Dancing Ledge, and the impressive Winspit, whittled deep into the hill side with stone piers left to support the roof.

Worth Matravers is a pretty village, probably overrun in the summer. The Square and Compass was heaving, which isn’t that hard given its diminutive proportions. Only beer and pasties on offer, normally a perfect combination but we needed the legs to work for the return to Durlston, so opted for soup on the tea rooms.

Still, another 12 miles under the belt by the end of the day.
