Cycling the Coastal Path from Peñiscola to Alcossebre

The Harbour at Peñiscola

A very pleasant cycle today along the coastal path, a rocky track cum road that the locals use to get to the beaches tucked away behind the Parc Natural de la Sierra d’Irta.

There was a stiff wind which was mostly across us on both the outward and return legs, except for full in the face on the final leg to the campsite. Most of the time the hills of the Parc shielded us, and we could enjoy the suns warmth. This was actually the first time we’ve managed to get down to T-Shirts since leaving home, which is definitely a good sign!

We stopped off mid afternoon at Camping Ribamar, a fairly new and quite plush campsite on the edge of the park. Much less brash than our current Spa site, away from the noise of the Autopista, and with its own restaurant which provided us with a beer and tapas prior to the ride back. We are going to move over there tomorrow for a few days, to give some time for New Year and to enjoy walking and cycling in the park.
