A pertinent video after riding through London yesterday. I was a pleasantly surprised by the provision of cycle lanes on London’s streets, although a bit of paint down the side of a road does not necessarily make car drivers any more aware of your existence. Even where the cycle lane is separated from the road by a curb, it still didn’t stop some people from failing to respect it. At one point we passed a lorry that had been trying to manoeuvre in the road, had crossed over the curb and then got itself wedged across the divider, blocking both the road and cycle lane. That apparently took 4 policemen to assist with, although by the time we’d got there they all seemed resigned to needing a tow truck and were just standing around looking useless. I guess the is no crime in the capital city that needs attention on a Sunday.
