A little late in publishing this, but some pics and the route of the Bank Holiday Monday ride for the Rough Stuff Fellowship around the tip of Cornwall. Only Mel and I along for the ride, but didn’t expect others to make it that far down. It was a good ride, although we curtained some of the rough stuff as… Read more »
Our inaugural ride for the Rough Stuff Fellowship in the South West. I must admit, I wasn’t expecting a huge turnout for the first ride, all very early days yet and my initial email to the South West members didn’t get much in the way of a response. But I had set my expectations suitably low, and by 10:05 we… Read more »
At long last I got to go to a Rough Stuff meet. The South West of England doesn’t have a local group, with most of the membership in the north, which seems like a terrible shame (for the south-west I mean!). The Easter meet has a new location each year, and this time they chose Dunster, just a few miles… Read more »
After the fun of skiing, it was time to leave the mountains, and what better contrast than the edge of a rather large lake. After arriving late in the day, Thursday was spent cycling around the north east corner of the lake starting from Meersburg, going anti-clockwise to until reaching the northern half of Constance, then crossing the lake back… Read more »
See update at bottom of post. The ASA said showing a rider without a helmet could encourage behaviour “prejudicial to health and safety” A television advert promoting safe cycling has been banned for showing a rider without a helmet. I mentioned yesterday that we’d driven past the deserted villages in the Ara valley, most notably the village of Jánovus. Today we decided to back track a little and go and cycle through the valley to see a little more of it firsthand. The whole area has been blighted for nearly 100 years since it was first proposed to build… Read more »
A day out on the bikes, and despite the threat and even sight of rain nearby, we stayed dry. Starting from the campsite we had some lanes marked as NCR 6 into Thornhill and turn across the Yorkshire Bridge into the eastern bank of the reservoir. Once at Ashopton you turn onto bridle way, but it’s really a well groomed… Read more »
Glorious Weekend. Well, the weather anyway. As for Mel’s craft fair, it was a complete washout. One postcard sold over two days. Begs the question, ‘when does anyone bother to go to a craft fair’? Perhaps it has to be precisely 22.5 degrees with light cloud. We finally managed to peel ourselves of our friends driveway, temporary base for the… Read more »
An unexpected but very welcome invitation by Andrew and Isabelle to join them for a cycle ride this afternoon. The day could easily have been spent taking down Christmas decorations, but a plan was quickly hatched and we popped the bikes into the back of the car for the short trip to Oake as the starting point. This has the… Read more »
A bit slow in updates here, partly caused by problems with iOS 6 on the iPhone not transferring images via Photo Stream when I wanted them to. Sort it out now, and so here are some images from weekend before last, when Mel and I took the motorhome to Romsey in Hampshire for a few days as she had an… Read more »
