Day three on the wall, and the terrain is getting uppity. The 15 miles on the map turned out to be harder than the wall-mates could cope with, and by mile twelve, they’d all been voted out.
I had taken the easier job of van logistics coordinator, which meant I could choose the better sections to walk on, and avoid the mundane. As a result, I did half the mileage and got to visit the Roman Army museum as a bonus, which gave me a bit more context about the life of a Roman soldier.
Tomorrow is an easier walking day, with a visit to the fort at Vindolandia, but there are still several miles of hills including the highest point in the wall at 345 metres. Let’s hope for more of the gorgeous sunshine that blessed us today!
