A damp start and a wet finish, we walked a well marked but steep trail up through the Scots Pine forests beside Loch Maree onto the lower slopes of Benn Eighe. We hoped the view would be nice, but cloud and rain came in shortly after the off putting the mockers on that.
But a good walk, only 5 miles but 400 metres of climb, across steep rocky stairs and gravel paths. On the descent, both feet shot out from under me due to a slippery tree root, and I landed on my arse, bending one of the trekking poles in the process. No major damage, a bruised arm, and the pole straightened out reasonably well, although I doubt it telescopes very well now. But at only £3 a pair, no real loss either!
