Stiperstones

A late start for a walk, but we got out after an early lunch. The hills took their toll yesterday, proof that I’ve not been doing enough of them so far this year. Too many canal walks! Under threatening skies we headed up along the Stiperstones ridge and clambered to the summit and cling to the trig point. Lovely far… Read more »

The Long Mynd

Taking advantage of reasonable weather and exceptionally pretty countryside, it was time to get out for a walk. 15 miles, skirting below Stiperstones and past Bog Village, a lovely loop across lumpy countryside. A short refresher at The Crown Inn in Wentnor, before a long climb up onto Long Mynd. Sadly, we times the summit with a shower that killed… Read more »

Ironbridge

Couldn’t make our minds up today. Do we go to the Peak District as planned, or explore Shropshire which we don’t know very well at all. Would love to go back to the Peaks, but new places to explore are always fun, and well, we were really not that far away. So, tempted by Ironbridge and an alleged exhibition of… Read more »

Shropshire Union Canal

Time to try and move on from some of that political nonsense and do a bit of travelling. We’re heading for Lincolnshire, with the intention of going via the Peak District, which we’ve enjoyed greatly in the past. However, unable to leave home till mid-afternoon meant that it would be good to break the journey, and so I opted for… Read more »

Gdansk – The Cuisine

Polish cuisine. I’m surprised there a many Poles left to be honest. You’ll notice the distinct lack of green things. The Pierogi are a bit like Cornish pasties, these being the baked variety, but you get steamed ones too which are more like dumplings. The Lody, or ice creams, are particularly dense and plentiful. We did a Tandoori meet feast,… Read more »

Gdansk – The City

Just back from a weekend away with Dave & Mark for a little rest, relaxation, and unhealthy living. A return visit to Gdansk for the boys, but this was my first, and very enjoyable too. The old town is very compact, a combination of elegant streets with Dutch and Baroque influences, and waterfront. It’s entirely pedestrianised, so a joy to… Read more »

Home on the Farm

You may well have wondered what’s been going on. There’s been lots of house action in the last few weeks, with external and internal decoration happening, and some tidying, landscaping, and hedge laying. With a glorious spell of weather of the last couple of weeks, much progress has been made outside. Scaffolding is yet to come down so house shots… Read more »

Safari on iOS – Typing or tapping in address bar causes crash

The ‘Safari Suggestions’ option is causing the Safari browser to crash when you tap in the address bar field and start typing. Sometimes just tapping in the field is enough, you get dumped back to the home screen, and sometimes you need to start typing. The bug can be avoided by going to Settings > Safari, and disabling the option… Read more »

And now for something completely different…

Well, here we are back in the house after two and half years of travel. But don’t worry, we aren’t intending on taking root. This is merely a hiatus. Anyway, it was nice to get such a lovely sunset on our first evening back. That distracted us from the mud. We’ve obviously become soft in the interim, what with hardstanding… Read more »
